Elephant Sanctuary - Education through an Interactive Tour:
The Elephant Sanctuary provides a safe-haven for elephants that have been rescued and provides a halfway house for young African elephants in need of a temporary home. The handlers have obtained a special relationship based on trust obtained through reward based training. The goal is to release all the elephants into an environment where they can be more independent.
The Elephant Sanctuary group has three operations; Hartbeespoort Dam, Plettenberg Bay in the Garden Route and Hazyview in the Lowveld. Our tour will be to the sanctuary in Hartbeespoort Dam.
An half day tour option is also available at the Pilanesberg National Park as their elephant interaction safari.
At the Elephant sanctuary you will be provided with an insight into the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) with in depth information on their anatomy, history, feeding habits and general information about this animal in the wild. It provides a platform for learning through interaction with the elephants. Guests of all ages can discover the individual temperament, personality and character of each elephant by feeding, touching, brushing the elephants. You can even take the elephant's trunk in your hand and lead it on a short walk and as an extra to any standard tour you can take a ride on one of the elephants.

Lunch can also be enjoyed on the main deck with a view of the elephants
This Tour is an experience that will be remembered for life.
